Boba Review Part Two!
I’m sure you’ve heard of the amazing amalgamation of tapioca starch and sugar, aka the revolutionary specimen that is boba! If you’re here, then I assume you are familiar with “Boba Review: Is it Delicious, Textured, and Affordable?” which means you’re likely familiar with our score system. However, in case you need a refresher, our rating charts are as follows: location, cost efficiency, serving time, texture, appearance, taste, and accessibility. The drink I bought at each store was Jasmine Milk Tea. So without further ado, let’s begin!
The first place I reviewed was a quaint shop located in Old Town Pasadena called Jin Tea Shop. The overall ambiance was very inviting with its charming pink walls and festive Halloween decorations, which led me to rate appearance at around 7.5/10. However, the space was quite small and there weren’t many spaces to park or sit. This brought down the overall accessibility and location scores to 6/10. The serving time was record fast, coming to about 30 seconds! This gave the serving time a 10/10! However, despite ordering the medium size, the price was a bit elevated ($10) for the size of the cup. Despite my overall price rating being relatively low (3/10), the scores shot up with taste and texture. The boba was phenomenal, and the texture was a wonderful balance of chewy and soft. Also, the tea tasted freshly brewed. Taste scored a whopping 9.5/10 and texture scored a 9/10! Overall, I would rate this establishment a 7/10 if you're looking for some quality tea and tasty boba.
The second place I visited was Boba Boba La Cañada. Before you judge me, I wanted to spontaneously test the quality at one of the highest-rated boba shops from our last article by returning to one of my favorite spots! The location is very convenient, earning an 8/10. The accessibility has also improved since the seating arrangement was changed and parking was added, bumping both the accessibility and location rankings to 9/10! The staff is extremely personable, and the space has slightly expanded on the inside, bumping yet another one of the ranking categories (appearance) to an 8.5/10! The serving time was on par with Jin Tea Shop, scoring another 10/10. As far as consistency goes, their quality has improved tremendously, with both taste and texture coming to a 9.5/10! Cost efficiency has stayed the same (8/10), and the overall rating has now been deemed a 9/10!
Overall, I highly suggest going to both places and perhaps even rating them yourself! I promise to bring back my professional boba opinions in the near future with a new array of wonderful places to try!
