ROOM RAIDER: RATING ROOMS
The Sequoyah high school campus has fifteen rooms for its academic activities, and as with all things, some are better than others. To determine room rankings, a 40-point room scale was used that looked at the comfort of the room, the table setup, the room’s vibe, and its unique qualities to answer the question: which is the best room of them all? Here is the final list:

The very best room in the entire high school is by far Room 23. This amazing room is not only great for learning but provides a comforting and chill environment. The best part of this room is the couches. This is the most comfortable seating in any room, making it not only a good room for learning but also for hanging out. “Those couches are, like, just awesome,” says Lucy Pettit ’26. Along with the couches, the bulk of the library also resides in Room 23, to add a nice feel to the room, along with an important use. The table setup is great for almost anything you want to do. The only problem with the tables is that the people closest to the TV will have a hard time seeing it unless their heads can turn 180°. Overall, this room is a leap above any other, with by far the most comforting and useful design of any room on this campus.
Out of all the rooms, I would have to say that the worst room, not by much, is room 1. This room is fine at best but is inconvenient in many ways. Walking in, you feel a sense of impending doom. Looking at comfort, this room fails to offer much. This room has the hard blue chairs found in almost every classroom, leaving it with an average comfort score. The table setup is not great. It would hinder a discussion and almost all people would have to turn their heads to see the TV, which is possibly the worst place it could have been placed. The vibe of the room is just off, and it leaves you in a bored mood. It can be good for storage, but otherwise, it leaves much to be desired. The best part would be the decor, with graphs from Sam Ford’s Algebra 2 class.
Some other great rooms that should be mentioned are Rooms 21, 8, and 7. 21 is the music room. This room really has a great vibe and excellent versatility. “Since there are so many instruments in there, it's …fun if people want to try out hobbies,” says Harper Gowen ’26. “So many people play music in there, and you just get to relax and listen.”
Another great room is Room 8, the science room. This room “has all the cool science stuff,” according to Rachel Youngstrom ’26. Room 8 is incredibly useful for almost all science classes, with the microscope and other science equipment. Room 8 also houses the elements used in classes like chemistry.
The room right next door, Room 7, also known as the art room, is great as well. This room has the school’s art supplies, including the 3D printer, the laser cutter, and the sticker printer, which makes this room possibly the most useful of any. This room has a great vibe and is really fun to be in.
In conclusion, the rooms of Sequoyah are not created equally. Some are amazing, like rooms 23, 21, 7, and 8. Others aren't the best, like rooms 1, 2, and 3. But even the worst of rooms are still fine, and every room has something going for it. We are lucky to have such a nice campus where no rooms would score below 20 on our rating scale, which is still quite high for the low end of the ratings. Finally, remember, even if you do not get the best room on this campus, it isn't all room and gloom–there’s always next semester!
