Van Go! New Camping Vans Take Maiden Voyages
After almost a year of discussion and waiting, the vans have arrived and are in full swing in the Field Studies program at Sequoyah. The new Sequoyah van fleet has finally driven off of Sequoyah soil , supporting the most recent camping trips to Monterey Bay, Sequoia National Park, Quail Springs, El Capitan, and Leo Carrillo.
The vans are Ford Transits that seat a total of 12 people with tons of legroom to spare.
One improvement students have really enjoyed about the new vans is the speaker system. The speakers are definitely a step up from shoving a Beats Pill in the air vents of the old vans, a measure students have taken before. The new speakers are loud and clear, and make the drive a lot more pleasurable.
One thing Sequoyah students dislike, though, is the “loner” seat, because it is isolated from the other seats. “I don’t like the different amounts of seats, two and two and then three. Or the awkward lone seat that is by itself,” said Junior High Student Renee Ventresca. Ventresca also said that “You have to turn around to talk to anyone, and you get really carsick.”
The new vans even have a green Sequoyah sticker on the back of the vans, to show Sequoyah spirit. The silver Ford Transit vans will carry Sequoyah students into the world for years to come.
