What's Adrian Crick Doing in Quarantine?
What have you enjoyed and not enjoyed about quarantine?
I have not enjoyed staying at home all the time, but I have enjoyed the idea of the freedom that it gave me, because I like to think I’m free because I don’t have a bunch of places to go, but in reality, I still have so much stuff to do, and it still takes as long.
Have you developed any new hobbies or interests?
I have recently picked felting. My cousin and I both love making Asian-- sort of like bento boxes-- like Asian bento boxes, but just bento boxes in general, and sort of Asian cuisine, so that’s sort of a new hobby. Recent-- very recent. We plan on trying to do that together.
What does the future look like to you?
My future looks like a lot more Zoom for school and summer programs. But I hope it's less quarantining so that I can spend more time with friends and family. Sadly I am very pessimistic about our future at this point.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? And what’s the last thing you do before you go to bed?
When I wake up in the morning, I probably-- roll over and go back to bed, because it’s always like, “Ugh I don’t wanna get up!” In the evening, it’s probably-- do homework. It’s either, I do homework, then get ready for bed and go to bed, or I get ready for bed, sit around doing homework and then go to bed.
What has been your favorite song or album recently?
I’ve been listening to throwback Rhianna songs a lot which is kinda funny, and then Big Sean’s new album, and “Soldier” by Beyonce because that’s what my mom gave birth to me to… it’s just a funny song just ‘cause of that.
Favorite TV show?
Fixer to Fabulous, it’s so much fun to watch!
What do you miss the most?
I mean I guess you could say this summer, I really missed my grandparents, ‘cause usually I go to my grandpa’s and see him in Michigan for the summer, and I didn’t get to do that. I also miss seeing other people other than my family a lot because even though I didn’t really go places most of the time before quarantine-- like I didn’t hang out with people-- I did enjoy just seeing people. It’s gotten repetitive seeing my family again and again. I kinda hate them now, but no I love them, they’re family!
Is there something that you were looking forward to?
Yes! So there’s this-- I guess you could say this internship/ college prep program that happens in the summers that’s called Smash and I didn’t get to go because they shut down my year, 2023. Class of 2023 doesn’t even have the option to join Smash anymore, which is really sad, because it’s a great program!
